He is contracted to South Australia and the Adelaide Strikers for domestic matches. He is an aggressive left-handed opening batsman in limited overs formats while he plays in the middle-order in Tests.
Head made his first-class debut for South Australia in 2011-12 at the age of 18.
He quickly established himself as one of the most promising young batsmen in Australia, scoring over 1,000 runs in each of his first two seasons.
In 2015-16, he scored 1,799 runs at an average of 63.96, including six centuries. He was named the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year and was awarded a Test cap.
